Wow - it was great ! Beautiful historic place . I would highly recommend paying the extra 5 Euro for the audio guide- we did also use the voucher for entrance to the Correr Museum - also in St Mark’s square . More than enough history/ art and things to see in one outing!

We travelled by 9.30am train from Treviso to Venitia Santa Lucia Station it was busy but there were plenty of empty seats. We arrived in about an hour. There were queue's for the boat tickets so we decided to walk through the clearly signed pathways to the St Marks/Realto. We immediately went to the skip the line prebooked entrance, there was no queue, we showed our vouchers on the mobile phone app and went straight through into the Palace. After a quick security check we went into the main square, after taking a few photos we continued exploring the easy to follow route through the Palace from room to room, the written descriptions on the boards in each room were good with just enough information about the Art and display items. We eventually came to cross the bridge of sighs into the prison, the highlight that most people looked forward to, including ourselves. This is a worthwhile visit and your best to prebook everything possible to save wasting valuable time in Queue's.

I was a little dubious about whether Get Your Guide was genuine and would work, but it did! It was 3 Euro more expensive than the standard ticket, but the user experience trying to book directly on the Doge Palace website is so abysmal it's unusable on mobile. Get Your Guide's UX for booking tickets is a lot lot better and easier, especially if you don't have access to a larger screen. Then you go to the pre-paid tickets line, they simply scan your GYG voucher, and you're in! Worth the 3 extra euro for the reduction in waiting in line, or the stress in trying to use the direct website.
