Full description

Spend some time on the most famous Venetian islands, known throughout the world for their picturesque scenery, craft traditions, and unique history. See the glass factory of Murano, lace shop on Burano, as you visit 3 different islands.

Depart from near Saint Mark’s Square or Santa Lucia Train Station, and take an enjoyable trip across Saint Mark’s Basin. On the boat, a live guide will illustrate the history of the lagoon and the three islands you will visit.

Your first stop will be the island of Murano. Sometimes referred to as the “Island of the Glass,” you will visit one of its famous glass factories and see the glass being manufactured and blown. Afterward head to Torcello, the most ancient of the inhabited islands. Continue to Burano, admiring the natural environment and the minor islands spread all around you. Enjoy some free time in Burano, a typical fishing island with colorful contrasts and chocolate-box painted houses.

Look out, too, for much evidence of its renowned lace making and embroidery industry and try some of Burano’s notable homemade cakes. Please note that once on the ground, this is not a guided tour. The guide will escort you to the glass factory in Murano and the lace shop in Burano. Afterward, you will have time to explore each island on your own.

The islands are all beautiful so I definitely recommend visiting them. 45 minutes was a bit too short to fully experience them so if you have more time book the extended version. But the trip was well run, the tour guide gave some really interesting insight into the different islands we passed. The Murano glass blowing demonstration was excellent. Be warned they do make you wear a mask on the boat which you don’t get told until you’re in the queue to board the boat, forcing most people to have to pay €2 to buy a mask there.

The tour of Burano, Murano and Torcello are recommended. The explanation of the guide inside the boat was quite brief. However, it was worth visiting the places in the free time that they gave us at each point. Apart from that, we had a delay arriving at the meeting point by vaporetto and they were flexible in giving us options so as not to miss the tour. Recommendable.

The excursion was well organized, it met the program and it is a good opportunity to get to know the 3 islands if you only have one day in Venice, although 45 minutes at each stop is a bit short to see them well, especially Murano, where the exhibition of how to makes the crystal already consumes 15-20 minutes. They recommend you to visit some monuments inside, but there is not really enough time for it. It's all a bit rushed.
