Vendicari Nature Reserve

We will navigate from Avola to Portopalo di Capo Passero. During the coastal navigation we will visit the following places: Avola, Calabernardo, Noto, Eloro, Marianelli, Pizzuta, Calamosche, Tonnara and Vendicari Island, San Lorenzo, Marzamemi and Portopalo. En route we will have the opportunity to admire: 4 tuna fisheries, 2 islands, Roman columns, reserves, fortresses and majestic sheer cliffs, beaches of the most varied colours and caves hidden by the blue sea. We will make many swimming stops where the sea is clearest and if it is possible we will anchor in front of the 3 Roman columns lying on the seabed at a depth of about 7 metres, we will provide everyone with fins and masks for snorkelling. A 40 minutes stop in Marzamemi to visit the fisherman village with the possibility of stopping at a few small restaurants and enjoy the view of this beautiful town. On board a rich aperitif with sicilian products and drinks will be served. Snorkeling gear is provided.

Meet your local guide and enjoy comfortable air-conditioned transportation from Catania. The first stop will be the Natural Reserve of Vendicari, the most important wildlife oasis in Italy. Discover the beautiful beaches of fine sand and large saltwater marshes. Also, try to spot migratory birds and plant species that grow on the dunes and cliffs. The day continues with a stop in Marzamemi, a small fishing village looking out over the Ionian Sea. Visit the ruins of the Tonnara, an ancient structure used to catch tuna. Be delighted by a profusion of colors, flowers, old buildings and one photogenic spot after the other. Finally, visit Noto, the capital of Sicilian Baroque. Get lost in its charming squares and marvel at its churches, buildings, facades and balconies all heavily adorned in the traditional style.

After leaving the meeting place, we will drive to Vendicari reserve. The guide will give you some information about the special wetland environment and about the birds of the reserve (over 250 different species), with proper spotting scope. We will walk along an easy path to get to the beach where the guide will describe you the characteristic vegetation. We will reach the suggestive Tuna factory and the Aragonese tower, there the transfer R/T, guided tour with hiking guide, walking poles use of birdwatching gear guide will get you known interesting information about their history and how tuna fishery worked. Swimming break and transfer back to Siracusa.

You will be able to visit the city of Syracuse and the coasts by bike enjoying the beauty of the landscape, the sounds of nature, the freedom to stop anywhere without having to worry about parking. E-bikes also allow you to travel longer distances than one traditional bike. Thanks to the assisted pedaling you will be able to travel more kilometers, tiring you much less, but also reaching points of interest made inaccessible by difficult and heavy climbs. The motor that comes into action when pedaling will allow you to reduce physical effort, making it more homogeneous throughout the journey. The autonomy of the bikes it's 35km on one charge (more than enough to explore the coast). If you want to exceed this range you can recharge your bike in one of our charging points located in the most beautiful nature reserves in the area.
