From Cádiz: Private Day Trip to Gibraltar & Vejer Tour

From Cádiz: Private Day Trip to Gibraltar & Vejer Tour

Benefit from a pick-up from your hotel and then journey by air-conditioned minivan to the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, home to the only wild macaques (Barbary apes) in Europe. Although free to move throughout the city, they're usually found in the limestone rocks of the Peñón de Gibraltar (Rock of Gibraltar), and according to superstition, if the monkeys ever leave the rock then so will the British. An important city during Roman times, Gibraltar has preserved its old town charm, and blends scenic splendor with a modern vibe. While the 426 meter high Rock of Gibraltar looking across the straits to Africa is the main sight, other attractions include the Gibraltar Museum, where the territory's swashbuckling history is brought to life. Take a stroll along Main Street to see the Cathedral of Saint Mary the crowned and the official residence of the Governor of Gibraltar at the Convent. The town of Vejer was declared a historical site and awarded the National Prize for the beautification of Andalusian towns. Its Moorish heritage is evident in the popular architecture and design of its neighborhoods like the Judería. It is perched on top of a beautiful hill overlooking the river Barbate. The town takes pride in its historic legacy from past civilizations such as the Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Romans. In 711 the Battle of La Janda was fought near the town. After this battle, the Visigoths lost control of the peninsula to the Moors. The town of Vejer has always been walled and some of its towers are still well preserved (the Mayorazgo Tower, the San Juan Tower and the Corredera Tower), and its four medieval town gates are perfectly integrated in the town, namely the Segur Arch Gate, the Puerta de la Villa, the Sancho IV and the Puerta Cerrada. The castle (11th to 16th-centuries) stands at the highest part of the old town and can be reached through a beautiful horseshoe arch. It combines elements of both Muslim and Christian architecture. The town also boasts some magnificent examples of religious architecture.

Bea was the tour guide and we had a great time! Bea did the tour in Spanish and also in English so that my partner and another group could understand everything. A very good tour of the towns with detailed and interesting information, and it was not at all boring! You can see that Bea enjoys her job and that she tries to accommodate everyone so that we have a very good experience :)

Very good. The coach was very friendly and gave us good instructions. We got lots of practical tips. Communication took place in English and Spanish. We had a great international group. The conditions in the water were good for practicing and we had a lot of fun. We would do it again anytime! Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed the experience... the patience of our instructor... and if there is something to improve... in that case it would be us... we are so clumsy... Thank you very much 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Javi is a great guide! We loved listening to all his explanations.
