Travelling as an extended family with ages 6-73 I needed to find something that would keep everyone interested and having a good time. After a meltdown 10mins into an unescorted Colleseum visit the previous day, and with temperatures in the high 30s, I was seriously worried about how this tour would go. However, Alex was wonderful from the moment we met her, easily navigating us through the crowds to get our tickets and passport photos checked. Within 5 minutes she had coaxed my shy daughter daughter out of her shell and a few minutes later my daughter was happily following her around and chatting. Alex chose a route including more kid friendly museums and my daughter enjoyed spotting the various animals Alex asked her to find. Alex told us about how different Pope's had added to the Museums and the stories behind some of the statues and art. Alex got us special access to avoid the busiest areas, plus we got to go through the shortcut to St Peter's Basilica. Tour was loved by all ages!
Donato was super sweet friendly knowledgeable and patient! He really made our daughter learn a lot about the Vatican and have fun while doing it as well as the adults too. Also we really appreciated he took special care with my mom especially asking the security and Swiss guard if she could skip some stairs to get to St. Peter’s.

Know before you go
- Please note:
- All visitors must pass through airport-style security. During high season the wait at security may be up to 30 minutes.
- Due to the increasing popularity of Pope Francis and the increased activity in organizing mass events at the Vatican, some areas may be closed at the last minute without prior notice. This has already occurred this year and could happen again during your Vatican tour. In these cases, the Sistine Chapel might not be accessible. If this occurs your tour guide will provide you with a valuable alternative concentrating the tour inside the Vatican Museums.
- A dress code for both men and women requires shoulders and knees to be covered. Shorts and skirts are fine but must cover the knees.
- This tour is not suitable for kids under 5 years of age.
