We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Vancouver Island. We were picked up by coach near our hotel by our welcoming driver Gordy in a comfortable bus and taken to the ferry which took us over to the island. The ferry trip was great, with lovely scenery to admire all around. We were taken directly to Butchart Gardens, which we could definitely have used more time to explore in more detail. We were totally stunned by the utterly glorious plants, trees and flowers. The map really helped us to navigate the area efficiently so as to make the most of the hour and a half we had. The colours were spectacular with spring and summer flowers in bloom. I particularly loved the Japanese Garden and all the water features. From there we were taken to the city of Victoria which was a wow from the minute we saw the harbour. The place was much more traditional than Vancouver with no sky scrapers and some lovely historic buildings. We spent our time soaking in the vibes in the harbour. Highly recommend doing

The weather was bad that day but still this trip is a nice way to see what Vancouver and Victoria is like during winter as well as to get a glimpse of what life is like there; a very good introduction indeed. The lights at Butchart Gardens were really nice. I also liked looking at the other islands while on the ferry.
