From Positano: Private Sorrento Sunset Tour

From Positano: Private Sorrento Sunset Tour

Set off from Positano to discover the beauty of Sorrento! The drop off is obviously the central square of Sorrento. Piazza Tasso is a young square! It is little more than a century old: it was in fact built above the Vallone dei Mulini. Once upon a time here, instead of bars and shops, there were women washing clothes in the river that flowed down from the hills. Piazza Tasso is the most popular place for tourists and locals to stop for a drink. It is the inevitable meeting point for a coffee or an aperitif. Explore Via della Pietà and visit the church of Santa Maria della Pietà. At the end of Via you will find yourself in front of the Sorrento Cathedral, a Baroque-style building, where you can also admire a nativity scene from the 1700s. From here you can continue for a stroll along Corso Italia, the street for shopping and fashionable boutiques. Continuing along the Corso you will find Villa Fiorentino where exhibitions such as those of Dali, Picasso and Pomodoro are often held. A walk along Via San Cesareo, one of the most characteristic streets in Sorrento, full of small craft shops, is a must. Walking along this street, it is impossible not to notice Sedil Dominova, the ancient meeting place of Sorrento society with its large frescoed dome. From here you walk down Via Reginaldo Giuliani until you find yourself in front of the Villa Comunale, a large terrace overlooking the panorama of the Gulf. Below the tuffaceous ridge you can see the bathing establishments of Marina Piccola and further on the harbour. Next to the villa is the 14th-century cloister, a small medieval jewel that is very popular for weddings. From here you can decide whether to return to Piazza Tasso via Piazza Sant'Antonino or continue the walk to Marina Grande past the Hotel Tramontano until you reach Piazza della Vittoria, another scenic spot. From here, follow the road from the entrance of the Bellevue Syrene down to Marina Grande passing under the ancient gateway to the city. Marina Grande is Sorrento's fishing village and a favourite spot for tourists and locals alike for lunch or dinner by the sea. After three hours of shopping, walking, culture and fun, your driver will take you back to Positano.

Had a great time making pizza. The hosts were so nice and so friendly and gave us a great tutorial on how to make pizza. Before that we were shown how they make the mozzarella (which was delicious) and had a taste of many types of olive oil (which was also delicious). The puzzas we made were amazing. Highly recommend this activity.
