This excursion combines two famous attractions, Filerimos hill, where you will visit the monastery of our Lady and the remains of the Ancient Acropolis of Ialysos, one of the three ancient cities of Rhodes Island, and the Valley of the Butterflies one of the most beautiful landscape in Rhodes Island. Explore the unique nature of this valley and walk amongst the butterflies. At the beginning of our tour we will visit Filerimos, located near the village of Trianta, which stands on the same site as the Doric city of Ialyssos in ancient times. The monastery is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and its architecture is much different than the usual monasteries in Greece. In the region around the monastery, there are the ruins of a baptistery in the shape of a cross, the remains of Ancient Ialyssos, and an underground church of St. George that dates from the 14th century AD. From Filerimos Monastery also starts the path to Golgothas. On top of this path, up on a hill with amazing views that allow you to take some beautiful photos. Also, there is a huge cross, while on the one side of the path, there are engravings that represent the Passions of Christ. After leaving the Filerimos hill, the second stop is at Valley of the Butterflies where the guests can explore the beautiful valley where thousands of butterflies fill the air there (from the middle of June till the end of September). The other months they can explore the beautiful landscape of the valley. Is an excellent place for families with children who wish to enjoy the beauties of nature and examine the life cycle of butterflies as part of their summer holiday. You will love the peaceful walk through the shaded, green valley with its Small River and beautiful waterfalls. You are permanently surrounded by butterflies camouflaging themselves against the tree trunks as you walk up towards the monastery at the top or rest for a while on one of the wooden benches along the way. Complete your tour with a visit to the Museum of Natural History: In the Valley of the Butterflies, there is a museum housed in a nicely restored Italian house from the 1930s. Here you will find extensive information about the flora and fauna in the reserve. The most interesting part of the museum is the hatchery, where several butterflies reproduce in a protected area in stable climate conditions and an ideal environment.

After transfering you to the central most point of the valley,that is part of a natural protected park,is a must see!You may jump into the train for a small fee that takes you to the northern entrance and the monastery of Kalopetra that is open during summer and you can take a few moments to visit everything that it has to offer.The unique location on top offers breathtaking panoramic views and the monastery inside has ancient greek,catholic and orthodox touches.Next is the small museum with ancient artifacts froom the temple of Artemis,guardian of the forests and wild life for a quick visit.After finishing with the monastery we are entering the valley as we mentioned from the north entrance.Since its a national park there is a small fee to enter,and also a small cafe for a quick refreshing coffee or water.The serenity of the park captivates you to continue exploring more!Sightings of local deer Dama Dama,unique red crabs with a cross on their back,little turtles by the streams are part of this natural park hidden in the valley.The valley has a unique flora as well.Many aromatic plants are on the way down stream like sage,thyme and oregano.The oriental sweet gum trees further down release a captivating aroma that the moth,our butterfly is attracted to.Without a stomach this butterfly is sleeping on these trees,therefore any disturbance will cause them to fly,loosing power and eventually die,so dont create any noise.Just admire the nature!The valley further down gets interrupted by the main street,so exit and immediatelly re-enter to continue for the last part.Exiting south its a historic cafe,previously a watermill, that you may get something refreshing or taste some delicious local dishes,also souvenirs and items to remember.Finally the museum of Natural History,where the journey of the day ends.Again after September it might be closed to the public for restoration and reservation for the winter to come,as many rainfall is expected during winter.Your designated chauffer will wait for you there to return to your hotel safely and conviniently.The addmission fee to the national park of 6 euro during summer and 3 before closing,isnt included in the transfer.Also the train ride fee of 3 euro to the monastery,isnt included.You are advised to wear trekking shoes,not dressing or with any heels.Do not litter the valley as they have proper litter boxes for disposal.Hope you enjoyed and had a memorable experience with us and looking forward for your next expedition to Rhodes!

We were there at the end of the season do some attractions were already closed but still pretty views and interesting activities compensated it all. Our driver Anthony is very nice person and pretty knowledgeable.

Last to be picked up and only two single seats free. Otherwise a very good day, excellent bus driver. Needed an extra 30 minutes at Seven Springs Valley for lunch and site seeing

It was a very special experience. A lot was told about the areas where we went. Besides the beautiful surroundings, it was also very educational. I definitely recommend it

everything was exactly as described. the driver was punctual, nice and reliable. the places are perfect for relaxing

if you want to eat at the seven springs its going to be hard to have time to see the lake and springs.
