Olivier was a fantastic guide. He put everyone at ease with fluency in French and English and was focused on ensuring everyone safely enjoyed the experience. He was very clear with his briefing and was very knowledgeable about the region and what we were seeing. The hike was up and down the valley and so did require a level of physical capability to pick your way up and down the slopes….but Olivier was really helpful every step of the way. The hike goes through one of the most beautiful river valleys we have seen and will be an incredible memory for us all. Great experience and thoroughly recommended.

We were looking forward to be closer to the nature of Mauritius. The climbs are steep in tight forest but our guide helped the group and gave advice how to step and was taking care of everyone’s safety and well-being, which we appreciated. The told about plants and flowers. For us Belgians the watervalls are amazing and the hike is a must do experience to see this country. We would recommend this to everyone!! Thank you

Full description

Meet your guide at the Henrietta Bus Station and start with a short briefing about the hike. Then begin your 3-hour hiking experience by walking through sugarcane fields to reach the entrance to the canyon, admiring the stunning landscape around you.

Make your way down to the canyon, and after 30 minutes of walking you’ll reach the first of many waterfalls. Take the chance to swim in the natural pools carved out of the rock. Learn about the plants, the animals, and the history of Mauritius from your guide. Finish your tour at Tamarind Falls, the most impressive waterfall, before returning to your original start point.

Guide was excellent and pointed out various plants of interest. Knowledgeable about the area and helped with the more tricky (ie steep) parts of the trail and made you feel safe.
