The Marino Ballena National Park is home to one of the most biologically diverse marine habitats in Costa Rica. Marine birds such as pelicans, brown booby and frigates can be observed on the islands and rocky formations. Approximately 70 species of fish, humpback whales, false orca, spotted dolphins, spinner dolphins, bottle-nose dolphins, crabs, starfish, worms, sea snakes, lobsters, sponges and mollusks, all form part of the diverse marine life found in the park. Also observed in the park are olive ridley, hawksbill, leatherback and green turtles as well as reptiles like the green iguana. The tour from Marino Ballena starts at 8:30am. Once on the boat, you will be given water, fruits, all gear. During the boat ride, you will be taken to different areas to spot dolphins and other wildlife, and to rocky formations within the Ballena Marine Park, where you can snorkel. The guide will tell you of interesting facts about the park.

This is an important area for humpback, false orca and pilot whales for rearing their calves. There are cliffs and several mangrove forests bordering the rivers. This estuarine area is an ecosystem that shelters species of fish, birds and crustaceans. Although most of its territory includes the maritime area there are also beautiful beaches of sand and stone such as ballena beach, uvita becah, piñuelas beach, dominicalito beach, hermosa beach, pedregosa beach and arco beach in whicn we can pick you up for the tour. This tour consist in a hiking adventure in one of the most beautiful and touristc places in costa Rica. Enjoy the trails of the Marino Ballena National Park while watching the amazing wildlife in it. There are plenty of animals within Marino Ballena Park. Some of the land animals include howler & capuchin monkeys. There are sloths, iguanas and birds. The main draw to the area is the marine mammals including humpback, false orca, and pilot whales. Dolphin species that frequent the area include spotted, spinner, common, and bottle nosed dolphins. In addition, olive ridley turtles and the occasional pacific green or hawksbill turtle can be found in the waters of the park. Our adventure begins with a pickup time at 8:00 am in Manuel Antonio and Quepos area at your villa or hotel, we will move towards the South Pacific of Costa Rica specifically in the towns of Matapalo, Dominical, Uvita and Ojochal, this incredible waterfall has fresh- cold water, two pools where you can jump, swim, and relax.    We will continue our way to our second waterfall named “Portalon” in the community of Portalon of Quepos, during the tour we will pass through plantations of African palm, rice, papaya, teak among others. After having a great time at the waterfall, we will keep our way to the beach, our guides will prepare some snacks and fruits for you, also you will have to time to swim, walk, tan and have a good time at the beach.     Once our tour adventure continues towards our third and last waterfall named “Vista Verde” located in Uvita town, a journey through the coast enjoying beautiful and lush green landscapes and characteristic of the tropical forest of our region, this amazing waterfall has an amazing natural waterslide in which you can slide on it and enjoy his fresh and stunning natural pool, if you are taking the waterslide our guides will give life jackets to make you feel more save and comfortable.     The time to enjoy a delicious typical Costa Rican lunch arrives after having enjoyed our break in “La Parcela Restaurant” which has an incredible ocean view, to enjoy and relax with a drink or cocktail with family and friends.     On the visit to the beach, our guides will give snacks, fruits, and drinks (water or juice), also a safety talk and will always be 100% available and attentive to guarantee the quality standards and in the same way minimize the risks for the maximum enjoyment of our clients. The Highlights Take a guided hike/walk through the area known as Punta Uvita in Ballena Marine Park. Here you will see a variety of vegetation and wildlife, especially birds, in the mangroves that are not a hidden treasure in the park . The tour begins at the entrance to Marino Ballena Park (Playa Uvita) covering a section of the beach before you enter a trail near the Whale's Tail. Our naturalist guide will explain the history of this area, the unique features of the Park and the natural history and the relationship of the fragile ecosystems as you venture on a 3 hour hike. Our guide will also help identify the howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, bats, raccoons, and marine and forest birds you will see during your adventure. Don't forget about the insects and plants that are of great biological interest! We'll take you to the mouth of one of the rivers that empties into the waters of the park were you'll see more waterfowl and marine birds, and perhaps a crocodile. Where else can you experience the sounds of the forest and the ocean at the same time.!! We will return by the beach to the park entrance if the tide and weather conditions permit.

HOW TO GET HERE The journey is an adventure The best way to get here is to fly into San Jose Airport (SJO) and travel from there via bus to Uvita. You can book the transfer with us when you book your camp. We recommend that you arrive in San Jose the night before you need to be at the camp or super early in the morning on Monday. The reason for this is that it takes around 4-5 hours to get to the camp from San Jose. Go cliff jumping in the Uvita Waterfalls The waterfalls of Costa Rica are world-famous, and the nicest one is very close to our camp, only 10 minutes by bike. See this beautiful waterfall, swim in the pool underneath it and get some air cliff jumping off the rocks! Explore the beautiful beaches of the Osa Peninsula The beaches of Santa Teresa are pristine, postcard-perfect. Here you can still find a lot of hidden gems, and we love getting on a bike to discover them ourselves. Local tip; check out "Secret Beach", for a proper Cast Away-feeling.
