I loved just wondering around the grounds and observing nature! The storks were fascinating. The castle was beautiful. Also, the cafe on the grounds was fabulous. A great place to rest up and refuel either before or after the castle tour.

Full description

Visit the tranquil landscaped parklands of the famous De Haar Castle. Discover its ponds and canals, as well as the many bridges, romantic vistas, and impressive avenues ideal for long walks or picnics.


Explore castle grounds which are over 55 hectares in size. Encounter calming areas like the park forest and the former menagerie, ideal for an attractive private walk. Explore features like the maze, the large deer park, the romantic covered bridge, and the picnic meadow.

Walk amongst some 7,000 trees, some of which are up to 140 years old. Visit areas like the Roman Garden, with its Ha Ha rampart, or see the Rose Garden, containing over 1,200 roses in 79 different varieties which bloom beautifully every summer.

Ample parking is available. The parking fee is €6 per car. The castle grounds are accessible by public transport: take bus 127 from Vleuten station to the stop "Brink Haarzuilens" and walk in 15 minutes to the castle. During the summer months, take bus 111 from Vleuten Station to the stop "Kasteel de Haar, Haarzuilens" and walk in 2 minutes to the castle (bus 111 is only available on Saturdays and Sundays).

Fantastic place to view. Didn't realise when I booked the ticket it was just for the gardens but still walked around for nearly 2 hours, spectacular views. Wish we had booked the full ticket to see inside also.
