What to Expect
Ushuaia, the capital of Tierra del Fuego, is located along the Beagle Channel coast, surrounded by the Le Martial Mountains. Its unique location offers a beautiful combination of mountains, sea, glaciers and forests unlike anywhere else. Explore the city and learn about the people who call this incredible place home.
We will start by traveling back in time with a visit to the historical La Mission Neighborhood, the area chosen by the first colonial settlers. Then continue through the Brown and Solier districts, built by the first immigrants at the beginning of the 20th century. During this time, the city was centered around a once active prison intended for Argentina’s most serious criminals. See old homes important to the local culture including the family homes of the Bebans, Pastorizas, Cangas, Fiques, Salomons, Ramos, Provincial Legislature and the old government home.
As the tour continues, learn about the incredible recent growth that took place with the arrival of the new settlers of the 1980’s, making it the city it is today. Also visit the Ushuaia Maritime Museum, the Old Prison of Ushuaia, and "The End of the World" Museum.
