Marvel at spectacular views of Andes mountain passes and tranquil lakes on a full-day excursion from Ushuaia! Cross the mountains at Garibaldi Pass, take in the stunning lake and valley views, and enjoy a lamb barbecue lunch surrounded by all the beauty.
What to Expect
Once you depart Ushuaia you’ll travel through the peat bog valleys of the southernmost outstretches of the Fuegian Andes. Discover the natural beauty of the Carbajal, Huskies, Tierra Mayor, and Las Cotorras Valleys, popular cross-country skiing destinations during the winter months.
On your full-day tour you’ll cross the sharply rising Andes via the Garibaldi Pass, at 1,476 feet, taking in spectacular views of Escondido and Fagnano lakes. You’ll head down the mountain to the Petrel Hosteria on the shores of Escondido Lake, to admire the surroundings and the rustic charm.
After enjoying some time at the lake, you’ll continue on, stopping at the Martinez Sawmill at Lake Fagnano. This interesting site, although no longer in operation, provides a glimpse into local history.
Your final stop is in Las Cotorras Valley where you’ll have a break for lunch and enjoy a traditional Fueguian lamb barbecue.
