Enjoy a unique underground experience with the official Underground Naples guided tour. Your guide will take you through 2,400 years of history, from the ancient Greeks to modern times, unveiling the “womb” of Naples from an archaeological, historical, anthropological, and geological point of view. The tour includes a visit to the Greek-Roman Aqueduct, the remains of the Roman Theater, and the Summa Cavea, a new fragment of the Roman theater just brought back to life.  The guide will speak English or Italian, or you can follow the visit in other languages, thanks to the free multilingual app that you can download at the beginning of your visit.  In addition, a brochure in several languages is always delivered in order to follow the visit better. You may also take pictures along the way. Choose the tour and pizza option to enjoy some tasty pizza at the end of your tour of the Naples Underground.

Know before you go

  • This skip-the-ticket line entrance will allow you to reduce the waiting time at the entrance, especially during high season. It is not a priority entrance ticket
  • It is not possible to carry out the visit autonomously, there will always be a guide to accompany you
  • It's recommended to wear comfortable shoes and a sweatshirt during warm periods
  • The path is efficiently illuminated, the access ladder is equipped with a handrail and the steps are very low. The only narrow and partially illuminated path is optional
  • Children who attend primary school and junior high school should bring a small flashlight
  • The path isn't accessible by wheelchair as there are 121 steps to climb uphill and downhill. There are no elevators or escalators. You can leave strollers at the main entrance and take them back at the exit

I loved being able to walk through the narrow passages lit only by the light from our phones. I also enjoyed listening to how the underground areas were used for sheltering during bombing of Naples in WWII.

It was very hard hear the guide the groups were very large and they had no microphones . The tour itself was very interesting and the lost Roman theatre at the end was just fascinating

It was a marvelous tour, totally eye opening - didn't expect underground Naples to be so full of surprises. Our guide, Fru, was excellent and answered many questions clearly. Charming lady and with a good sense if humour. Also really great value tour in the heart of the city
