Full description
Meet your friendly guide in Piazza San Carlo, a magnificently elegant location aptly nicknamed the ‘lounge’ of Turin. Learn about the Piazza’s history which dates back to 1619 as you admire the intricate architecture of the surrounding buildings. Next, pass by the Port Palazzo Market on your way to the impressive Porta Palatina, which is one of the best preserved 1st-century BC Roman gateways in the world. Continue the tour to the imposing San Giovanni Battista Cathedral, the main place of Catholic worship in Turin. Located in the square of the same name, the cathedral was built at the end of the 15th century and is the city’s only religious building in the Renaissance style. Arrive at Piazza Castello next, a large esplanade that is the true center of Turin. As you explore, admire the dazzling Palazzo Madama as well as the majestic Palazzo Reale. Follow your guide to Piazza Carignano, one of the most important and historic squares of the Piedmontese capital. Dating back to the Savoy era of the city, the square boasts a fascinating monument to honor Vincenzo Gioberti, whom you will learn about from your guide. The tour ends at one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, the Mole Antonelliana. Built in 1863 and standing at 167 meters tall, the tower was initially a place of worship for Turin’s Jewish community before being sold to the municipality in 1877. Today the tower houses the fabulous collections of the National Cinema Museum.

We had the enormous privilege of having Alessandro as a guide. He had already guided us to the Reggia di Venaria, where he was superlative. Even today he found himself very well prepared and ... we were hanging right from his lips. How many things have we learned. We highly recommend both the Reggia di Venaria and the Royal Palace. Thanks Alessandro for your availability and patience. Marina and Camilla from Switzerland

Fantastic tour through the historic streets of Turin. Laura, the guide, made us discover sides of the city and the Turinese that are difficult to discover independently. His passion and competence dragged us into the history of Turin and transformed a "simple" walk into a journey through history. We sincerely hope to return to Turin as soon as possible and to be able to do other tours with Laura. Truly a special guide! Highly recommended if you want to look at Turin with the eyes of a real Turinese in love with her city.
