Full description
This half-day tour takes you on a wonderful journey into the mysterious world of the Mexican cenotes, an interconnected network of limestone sinkholes that are sacred to the Mayans. Venture into the world of the unknown, deep in the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula as you follow the cave path into an area once reserved for special offerings to the gods. Shine your flashlight deep into the cave and follow the stream down into one of the area's best cenotes. These natural limestone sinkholes make for incredible freshwater swimming opportunities, with refreshing waters that gently wash over you. Return to ground level and head for the Caribbean Sea to enjoy a snorkeling adventure in one of the largest reefs in the world. You will swim with schools of brightly colored fish, squid, rays, lobsters and maybe even a dolphin or two. Look out for the region’s famous and lovable sea turtles. You will be provided with all necessary snorkeling equipment and a wet suit for the cenotes Your guide will teach you about the cenote formation, tell you tales of ancient Mayan interpretations and explain the biodiversity of the reef system to you, before you return to Tulum by air-conditioned vehicle.

I cannot express how great this tour was. We were the only group of 7 to explore a whole underground cenote. It was private. It was magical - the waters were clear, the journey very exciting and the guide (Taren) was so informative , funny, knowledgeable and right out awesome! The lunch was lovely in the jungle at the end of the walk. We were so happy with how we spent this morning, really really worth every penny and time. Thank you so much for a lovely experience.

The trip was quite good. The Barrier reef was a bit choppy.Positives ..

We were able to see "live"corral, some fish and a wonderful canote. Our guide,Pluma, was very informative.Pluma dealt with humanity's connection with nature.(The circle of life and spiritual essence of our surroundings of nature.)...i.e.-respect and co-operation with nature. Our small group was treated to a nice lunch of burritos...as well as,sharing some pamphlets on the flora and fauna of the region. All in all a worthwhile trip.

Excellent guides and great snacks and lunch!

What I appreciate most about Mexico Kan tours is their focus on sustainable tourism practices. They had us rinse off and let us know that wearing sunblock and bug repellents into the water has harmed the aquatic life (in fact, they no longer do turtle tours as sea turtles have developed tumors with increased tourism and chemicals in their environment). Everything ran on time, all equipment was ready and in good condition, and we had yummy homemade snacks and lunch. I would highly recommend this tour!
