Full description
Head out on a relaxing day trip to Bacalar. The idyllic inland lagoon is not only rich in natural beauty, but also in history, and as you spend your day sailing around the lake you will discover both its famous blue and turquoise waters, the canal used by pirates and the colonial fort. Start this adventure by being picked up in Tulum, and head to Bacalar Lagoon. In Bacalar, board the eco-friendly sailing boat and make your way across the mesmerizing waters as the lake is also known as the Lagoon of Seven Colors due to its blue and turquoise hues. The beautiful and serene setting will make you feel relaxed immediately especially on a boat without a noisy motor, and sailing on the lagoon you will feel a fresh breeze as your tour the lake.  Sail through the famous canal used by pirates to attack the Spanish fort still standing by the lake's edge and the island used by storks, herons, and other waterbirds to nest throughout the year. Stop at some quieter spots on the lake with beautiful water to relax and swim. Get the opportunity to see one of the oldest life forms on our planet - the stromatolites - a so-called 'living fossil'. At the end of your experience, you will be taken back to Tulum.
