Based on the previous agreement with the driver, you can stop to stretch your legs and take some fantastic photos. After arriving in Dubrovnik, one of the most outstanding tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, you will meet your local guide and start an hour-and-a-half-long walking tour through the narrow streets of the historic core of Dubrovnik. Explore this fantastic UNESCO World Heritage site and learn everything about its history and monuments. Take in Renaissance and Baroque architecture, red brick roofs, and long walls that have resisted enemy attacks through the centuries. Explore the Old Town's central street Stradun, the Franciscan Monastery, the renaissance Rector's Palace, the town walls, the Lovrjenac Fortress, and many picturesque squares and churches. After pickup at your hotel or the cruise port, you will have the opportunity to visit Trsteno Botanical Garden, a 30-minute drive from Dubrovnik. During a 45-minute visit, explore a Renaissance garden built in 1492, full of exotic plants and trees. Next stop is the little village of Majkovi, where you can taste some of the best domestic products the region has to offer, including homemade cheeses, local olives, delicious dried meat, freshly baked bread, honey produced by the hosts, and a wide variety of homemade liquor and Croatian wines. Continuing along the high Napoleonic road, enjoy a majestic view of the Elaphiti Islands as you descend into Ston. The town is home to one of the oldest working salt factories in Europe, the second largest stone wall in Europe and some of the tastiest oysters on the Adriatic. A few brave tourists are interested in walking the walls, spanning 5.5 kilometers of steep hillside. If you prefer to take a swim, drink a cup of coffee or sample fresh oysters, your guide will be happy to accommodate you. On the way back to Dubrovnik, you will return to Majkovi for an extravagant homemade meal in the traditional Croatian style called ispod peke in a 300-year-old family house. Indulge in fresh goat cheese, vegetables from the garden, and young goat or lamb slow cooked all day under a large iron bell known as a peka. The seafood menu includes octopus or grilled fish with a side of potatoes and vegetables, homemade wine and dessert. Upon arrival back in Dubrovnik, your driver will drop you off at your accommodation.
