Just before the filming started in Dubrovnik, 'Game of Thrones' was already well-known and popular and the entire show definitely contributed to the overall destination reputation. Dubrovnik: Full-Day Cruise to Elaphiti Islands with Lunch

4. Dubrovnik: Full-Day Cruise to Elaphiti Islands with Lunch

Old pre-Roman ruins, basilicas and villas, quiet bays and beaches are located in the green of lemons and oranges. This is something you definitely don’t want to miss when in Dubrovnik. This small archipelago has no cars or industry – which makes it a pretty special place in the entire world. Elaphite Islands are closely bound to Dubrovnik and its entire past; they are considered to be constant guardians of the sea and coast, and they’ve always been the home of the brave captains and sailors of the Dubrovnik Republic and the present Dubrovnik. On our way to Elaphite Islands you will see Trsteno Arboretum which was a key location for Game of Thrones filming. Island of Šipan is your next destination, it's the largest island of them all. Šipan holds the Guinness world record for the biggest number of olive trees on one island. Historically, it was important to Dubrovnik Republic's noble families as it was their favorite summer residency. After Šipan, you're going to visit the significantly smaller island of Koločep. It's not really widely inhabited, but the natural splendor of this island will leave you breathless. It is perfect for swimming and diving, and it is rich in hidden bays. You can explore the island, find some interesting cliffs for jumping or nice locations for sunbathing! After Koločep, you will visit Lopud Island which belongs to Elaphiti group is the second biggest amongst them. It has 2584 sunny hours yearly and due to that it's covered in gorgeous Mediterranean vegetation, so you won't lack green around you (and it smells amazing). Also, there are two more interesting facts about Lopud - it is home to the oldest Botanical garden in Europe and a place where one of the rare famous sandy beaches is located. According to the local legend, if you bathe with your loved one on Šunj beach, you'll never separate!
