Calabria Spicy Half-Day Tour: Tropea/Capo Vaticano

6. Calabria Spicy Half-Day Tour: Tropea/Capo Vaticano

This entertaining half-day tour is an absolute must for every visitor to Calabria. In the early afternoon, head to the legendary Capo Vaticano. This is the most beautiful lookout point on the Tyrrhenian Coast with its small white lighthouse, which is still in use and guides the ships on their ways to the Aeolian Islands. A small panoramic trail leads you past giant prickly pear trees. An incredible view awaits you at the end, a picture-perfect postcard image: the view over the seven Aeolian Islands, which lie like pearls on a string. Look out at the strait that divides Calabria and Sicily. This place gives you the chance to take unforgettable vacation photos, while becoming completely enchanted. The Calabrians tell tales of why this is such a special place. The legend talks about enfolding beautiful Canfora in a Turkish blue robe, to quell the Saracens and lengthen their freedom. Because of this, the water is a unique Turkish blue and as clear as the Caribbean, even in sandy coves. And now comes the spicy part of the tour. Traditional Calabrian specialties await you. Experience Calabria with all your senses and try the "'Nduja" of Calabria, a sausage made with pepperoncino, as well as fine pasta with fresh olives and herbs with fresh bread, and the gold of Calabria, the lovely olive oil, and of course a glass of wine. End the tour on a high note as your tour guide leads you from the pearl of Calabria to the little coastal town of Tropea, which sits high on the cliffs. Experience the Dolce Vita between the old Italian alleyways and the Palazzos full of pomp and gorgeous entryways. Inhale the aroma of fresh espresso in cafes and diverse herbs that can be found in the little corner shops.

Very nice and interesting day tour.

Our collection went without a hitch. The bus was clean and our driver was very friendly. Our travel companion (Angela) turned out to be a great and talented entertainer with an immense knowledge of the past and present of Calabria and its inhabitants. It also gave us a humorous insight into people's daily lives. The journey over land and by ferry was therefore very varied and never boring! The city of Taormina showed itself at its best with brilliant sunshine. Of course it is a tourist magnet and always full, but that doesn't detract from your visit. In my opinion, the old amphitheater with an impressive view over the coast and on the other side of Mount Etna is particularly worth seeing. The restaurant "Bella Blu" recommended by our company and used by ourselves also has a great panoramic view over the coast, oh and the food is also good and came very quickly! So very recommendable tour!

in tropea 99% of tourists are german. so the tour is in german. You have to know that. the guides were excellent and give us the main information in italian. Before leaving Brazil you have to study a minimum of Italian. Taormina is beautiful. worth it

Very nice trip.

The trip was very nice. The organization could be better. There was very little information on the way and almost no information in Taormina either. The tour guide didn't know her way around there either.

Very good German-speaking tour guide who introduced us very well to the history and life in southern Italy.

Follow guide's recommendation for lunch, was very good
