What people are saying about Tropea
The trip to Stromboli is nice, although it was a very cold day when we went and there isn't a whole lot to see on the island, so we spent most of the time sitting in a bar. I think in summer it would be the perfect trip because you can have a nice swim. It would have been great to include a walking tour on the island. The staff on the boat were excellent, very friendly. There was not a lot of volcanic activity the day we went but we did get to see (and hear) a few bursts. The only thing I would improve is to be more accurate with the activity time: it is advertised as starting at 1:30pm but in fact the boat doesn't leave until 2:30pm. Even when clarifying with the providers they said to be there at 2pm. If we had of been there for a 1:30pm departure we would have been sitting around for a very long time...
Our driver, Francesco, knew enough English to give us restaurant recommendations and carry on light conversation. He was at the gate exit with a sign, helped all 3 of us with our bags and was very pleasant. We had airline problems, kept in contact with the company via email (we were a day late arriving) and the driver was there, no problems. It was a comfortable van, 37 miles and 45-60 minutes to the resort in Tropea.
