Full description

Watch magnificent humpback whales and orcas feed on shoals of herring when they migrate to Skjervoy between November and January. Enjoy a scenic panoramic drive from Tromso to Skjervoy, then hop into a rigid-inflatable boat (RIB) for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Meet at the Scandic Ishavshotel in Tromso bright and early. From here, drive for 3.5 hours to Skjervoy to meet your guide. Once in Skjervoy, receive a warm flotation suit before getting into the RIB. Then, set off on a 2.5-hour whale watching excursion in the Kvaenangen Fjord. Marvel at the natural scenery and keep your eyes peeled for orcas and humpback whales, as well as other local wildlife. After your excursion, refresh with some sandwiches, tea, and coffee before driving back to Tromso.

The departure time is 05:30 am for whale watching tomorrow. Please meet up latest 05:20 am. Please go directly on board the red bus from Bussring/Arctic Route which will be standing right in front of the main entrance of Scandic Ishavshotel in Tromsø. Adresse: Fredrik Langes gate 2, 9008 Tromsø. Please take as many warm and waterproof clothes as you can (to have under our flotation suits) during the Rib-boat whale watching excursion. Please also bring an extra set of clothes to change after the excursion in case your clothes get wet. Welcome!

We found the whale watching tour exactly as described. The team were very friendly and did explain everything fully to us. We understood that we had to be realistic about a whale encounter and this is not garaunteed. The team did everything they could and we were really impressed with Bridgette and where she took us, they even stayed out slightly longer and we were lucky to have an encounter at the end which made our day. Nice sandwich for lunch. As advised wrap up warm, you’ll need the layers in winter and out at sea, especially thick socks. If you can stomach it, and I get sea sick so bad to take a tablet before, then I would recommend this type of tour as the best chance for an encounter.

Wale gesehen, der Guide ist mit Speed übers Wasser gefahren (hoher Spaßfaktor), die Aussicht sehr schön. Es war ein tolles Erlebnis und jedem zu empfehlen. Der Ungangston sehr rau, aber das ist wahrscheinlich aufgrund des zeitlichen Drucks. Ich kann es sehr empfehlen.

Consiglio di fare questa esperienza unica! Abbiamo visto i capodogli , avrei voluto tanto vedere le orche ma siamo stati sfortunati però l’esperienza ne vale davvero la pena, i paesaggi sono mozzafiato!! Ma coprirsi bene !! Consiglio di portarsi calze in più! E roba di ricambio sopratutto se vi mettono in prima fila ! Io avevo due maglie termiche, maglia e maglione di lana , giacca e sotto pantaloni termici, leggings felpati e pantaloni da sci felpati e non ho avuto freddo quindi mi sono coduta questa esperienza fantastica!
