Full description

Set sail on a hybrid electric catamaran cruise for the Arctic waters and observe marine animals in their natural habitat. Watch orcas and humpback whales feed in the icy fjords and admire the stunning landscapes around you.

Depart from Tromsø in the morning, and head out to where the whales are in time to enjoy the short hours of daylight. Take in the breathtaking views of frozen landscapes in comfortable, panoramic lounges, and multi-level decks. Find a selection of food and drinks for purchase on board.

Sail for about 3 to 3.5 hours to reach the whales and spend about 1 to 1.5 hours with them. The boat uses a hybrid engine to reach their feeding grounds. As you near the whales, the captain will switch to a silent electric engine that allows you to get close without disturbing them.

Fred & Iona were fantastic - they gave so much information about the region, the animals, the history, everything! We saw so many orcas and several humpback whales, it was amazing (and I felt good about being on a more silent boat so as not to disturb the whales as much). Definitely bring more layers than you think and some snacks, and I recommend arriving early so you can get a seat with a good view!

We were lucky to see a lot of orcas and humpback whales. The weather was perfect so just a short area was more bumpy. But I go a lot on boats, so I’m used to rough seas. The crew was super attentive and provided a lot of info on the area, whales, behaviors and helped spot the whales. I am very pleased with the tour overall, and loved the fact they are very focused on sustainability and the whales’ welfare. We saw some small boats going really close to the whales and I think it’s not ok at all to chase them. The boat we were on is super nice, and also a hybrid - so once we got close to the whales the captain switched to electric. Highly recommended tour, bring your binoculars and long lens if taking photos. Help this more sustainable whale watching way.
