Tromsø: Reindeer Sledding & Feeding with a Sami Guide

The chance to get close to the reindeer and the talk about the Sami culture

It was a relaxed trip, the reindeer were lovely with some having lots of character. Well organised, and a friendly staff interaction. Something you couldn't do anywhere else.

This was a great experience getting up close and personal with the reindeers and also learning so much about the Sami Culture. Sadly due to the weather and ice conditions we were unable to do the sledding part of the excursion. The team were very apologetic and immediately let us know that we would be receiving a partial refund. As soon as we got on to the ice to feed the reindeers, it was clear that the conditions were too slippery for them so I’m glad to see that they take the welfare of the animals seriously and really care for them. As many have commented, we were then treated to their traditional reindeer soup. Quite strange to go from just feeding the animals to having them dished to us, but there was also vegetarian options if you preferred. Lastly the Sami cultural stories were super interesting, we really felt the love and pride from this community and are happy we’re able to learn so much about their culture.
