Full description
To start the adventure, your driver will meet you at the pickup point at the Scandic Ishavshotel 10 minutes before your scheduled departure. You will hop on the comfortable minibus and enjoy the short 35-minute drive out to the kennel on the island of Kvaløya. When you arrive at the kennel, you will be directed to the equipment room, where you will be kitted out with everything you need including winter suits, boots, and headlamps. You will be able to leave any items that you do not need in the lockers.  Once kitted out, you will see the kennel of 130 Alaskan Huskies, who are always excited to meet guests. You will be given a short talk and a demonstration on how to drive a sled and be able to ask any questions that you may have. After everyone is happy with the instructions you will follow your guide up to where your teams are ready and waiting for you. Each pair, one passenger and one driver, will have their own sled. You will be given several opportunities to swap between roles once the trip starts. You will be assisted by staff in setting your team off and you will then follow the guide on the trail. Passengers are welcome to take photos throughout the trip. Once your 90-minute adventure is coming to an end, the staff will assist you in getting back safely to the starting point. Then, you can thank your dogs and make your way into the Sami Lavvo where hot drinks and Hege's famous homemade chocolate cake will be served. Enjoy sharing your stories from the trip around the cozy fireplace until it is time to change out of your suits and hop back on the bus. You will be returned to the pickup point.

Amazing experience. The dogs are lovely and you can tell they are treated very well and are extremely eager to start running! I feel the participants should have had a bit more distance between each other so we wouldn't have to slowdown and brake so much and so often, the dogs were getting impatient, just like us! :) The chocolate cake is delicious! This activity is definitely worth it! Makes me want to do the weeklong husky sledding!

Even better than the northern lights! A wonderful tour to see the huskies on Kvaløya. The day was just perfect! The family puts a lot of heart and soul into the toere, no mass tourism but real local hospitality. Recommendation: 9:00 am tour, as it is the first tour and it is getting light here.

Starting with the punctual pick-up at the meeting point and a great drive with lots of references to wild animals on the roadside, we went to the farm about 30 minutes away. There we got winter clothes, shoes and a headlamp first. Then we went out to meet the dogs and pet them before there was a briefing on how to guide the sled in English. The huskies are all super nice and cuddly. Then it really started with the journey with several stops to change positions. Depending on the weather conditions (we drove through a real snow storm!) This can be very helpful to relax. After returning to the station there was cake and tea / coffee to warm up and a few explanations about the huskies and the opportunity to ask questions before the return journey started. The adventurous tour was really a unique experience with the entire crew and the huskies - an absolute recommendation!
