Full description

Depart from Tromsø in the morning, and head out to where the whales are in time to enjoy the short hours of daylight. Take in the breathtaking views of frozen landscapes in comfortable, panoramic lounges, and multi-level decks. Find a selection of food and drinks for purchase on board.

It'll take you about 3 to 3.5 hours to reach the whales, and, depending on the way and weather conditions, you'll spend about 1 to 1.5 hours with them. The boat uses a hybrid engine to reach their feeding grounds. As you near the whales the captain will switch to a silent electric engine that allows you to get close without disturbing them.

The trip is longer than expected, embarking on the boat at 7:46am and returning at 4:40pm. We saw the whales. So that made the whole trip worthwhile. But most people were not wearing masks and it was obviously not possible for many to be 1 meter apart given the seat setting in most areas. A full mask mandate in such crowded indoor setting would be safer for everyone.

The tour was one of the highlights of my stay in Tromso. The whale watching was definitely a great experience, but even if you don't get the chance to see any, the landscapes on the way to Skervoj alone are worth it. And our guides Fred and Frida were very knowledgeable about the Arctic.

Nice boat, nice staff. The staff did everything to find whales that appeared after a long search, but at a very long distance. Not easy to see the whales as the water and the whales are the same color. But as I said the staff were patient and looking, we were out 9 hours. A long journey that we also in the meantime got a lot of information about nature and about the life of whales.
