Full description
A package experience to feed the reindeer in the evening and partake in a traditional Sami dinner with the Sami reindeer herders while they tell you about their culture and their beliefs. The reindeer and the Sami have been living and working on this land for centuries, and have only recently invited guests to be part of their daily life. After a 25-minute drive from the city center, you will visit their camp and have a chance to feed the herd of around 300 wild reindeer who will swarm all around you, with some even eating from your hands. You will then be invited for hot drinks (tea, coffee, hot chocolate) around the fire inside a warm candle lit gamme (a traditional Sami hut). Here you will also be served a relaxed three course meal including bidos (a traditional Sami stew which is often served at Sami weddings and other special occasions) cooked over an open fire. A vegetarian option is also possible. After dinner you will be invited into a lavuu (Sami tent) and gather round the fire to listen to stories about Sami culture and how it is to be a reindeer herder. The Sami guide will also perform a joik (traditional Sami song) for the guests. If you are lucky and the sky is clear you will have a chance to see the northern lights directly above the reindeer camp.

Although this tour had lots of people on it (large bus full), it didn't feel too crowded. Feeding hundreds of reindeer out on the field was amazing; if you were quiet and didn't move too quickly, they would let you pet them as well. The Sami host was very funny and had some good stories to tell. He didn't mind answering questions and talking personally to me, which I really appreciated. He was good with all the kids in the group and helped them learn how to lasso reindeer (antlers). I thought the meal was really good; the reindeer stew was tasty. We didn't really look for northern lights, but I suppose if the sky had been clear, we might have done this.

everything perfect, very nice companions and crew present on the site, very attentive to everything both from spontaneously proposing to take group photos, and to worry at all times if we wanted something hot or if we needed something. really good food, quantity and quality really higher than I imagined, possible encores are also possible. the fantastic reindeer, feeding him was wonderful, they don't like to be pampered but they let themselves be approached easily. the very kind Sami, available to explain everything, was among us throughout the evening. and finally ... the dawn also appeared, everything was perfect, thank you!

Loved the reindeer experience. There were 100+ reindeer. They gave us plenty of buckets of food for the reindeer. They were very hungry. The stuck their heads into the bucket to eat. We found out later they will eat out of your hand. We should have tried that. After, we had some reindeer stew and had the Sami cultural experience. Unfortunately, this was not very good. The host Sami guide (who we’ve seen on a few YouTube videos) was rambling and hard to follow. A few people asked questions but mostly the didn’t get answered, but he was jovial and somewhat famous.
