Visit Miramare Castle which was built between 1856 and 1860 on the tip of the promontory overlooking the sea. You might want to dedicate a bit more time for the beautiful Maximilian's Rooms, particularly the bedroom, furnished as a ship's cabin, as well as the "Throne Room". Built between 1856 and 1860 by Archduke Maximilian of Austria, later Emperor of Mexico, the building is strongly influenced by a Romantic taste, as a revisited construction of a medieval fortress. Don't forget to take a look at the large park (over 22 hectares) surrounding the castle, an English-style and Italian-style garden, rich in rare plants, sculptures, and ponds, with wide steps that descend towards the sea.  After your 1.5-hour visit, your driver will take you back to the train station.
