Lake Garda: Cima Capi Via Ferrata

Lake Garda: Cima Capi Via Ferrata

Great via ferrata with wonderful views. This equipped path is very exposed and proceeds entirely offering glimpses of rare beauty of the lake and the Sarca Valley. At times there are breathtaking views on account of the vertical walls below. The excursion requires a lot of physical effort due to the vertical height gain involved. After reaching Cima Capi, you cross the old walkways, fortifications and tunnels built during the First World War. Don’t forget a torch to explore the fortifications on the way back.

Avio: Avio Castle Entry Ticket

Avio: Avio Castle Entry Ticket

The summit of a spur of Mount Vignola, which overlooks the Val Lagarina furrowed by the River Adige, has been adorned for more than 10 centuries by one of the most ancient and evocative castles in the Trentino region. It has belonged almost without interruption to the noble Castelbarco family, which during the Middle Ages transformed the fortress into a small feudal court, frequented by artists and intellectuals. The great scale of the complex – which is evident even at a distance thanks to the visual impact of the perimeter of crenellated walls and defensive towers that today encircle a lush garden of vines and cypresses – is counterbalanced by the attractiveness of the extraordinary frescoes that adorn the interiors of the Room of Love and the Keep, dating from the mid-14th century. While war and the military arts are celebrated in the former through delicate decorations and captivating frescoes, which offer an authentic encapsulation of the knightly customs of the time, in the latter the focus is very much on courtly love. In the renowned “Love Room”, amid darts that pierce the hearts of an elegantly dressed lady and a passionate knight, Love mounts an impetuous steed, infusing the entire space with a lively rhythm. The complex is reached via a route that meanders between the vineyards and skirts the southern edge. The wide downward slope that opens before the visitor is a sequence of terraces supported by stone walls, embellished by rows of vines and slender cypresses. Avio is a place of unexpected contrasts and is suitable even for youngsters who, by engaging with game-based trails, can have fun learning about the stories and characters who have brought the castle to life over the centuries.

Festival Ala Città di Musica 2025

Festival Ala Città di Musica 2025

The festival offers a program rich with internationally acclaimed artists, but above all, it aims to dedicate strong attention to the new generations, who are fundamental for our future. This year, even more than in the past, I Virtuosi Italiani wish to provide space and a prestigious stage for young but already established musicians. This is a true mission that has grown over the years, with the awareness. July, 16th A magical evening that will feature the I VIRTUOSI ITALIANI string quartet, the brilliant guitar virtuoso Massimo Scattolin, a student of the legendary Alirio Diaz, and a flamenco dancer. The program is entirely to Luigi Boccherini. In his original compositions “LA RITIRATA DI MADRID” and “FANDANGO”, there will be an interaction between music and dance, which will transport the audience into the “caliente” Spanish atmosphere. July, 20th Special evening entitled The Four Seasons and The Ants by Fabio Vettori. Fabio Vettori is an artist and illustrator who has invented: anthropomorphic ants. In his drawings, the industrious insects transform into imaginative humanized characters. For this special occasion, the famous anthropomorphic ants will come to life, under the pen of Vettori, projected on a giant screen, to tell the famous notes of Vivaldi's Four Seasons performed simultaneously live, by I Virtuosi Italiani and the young violinist Saverio Gabrielli. July, 25th For the first time in the history of the festival, you can listen to the prestigious ORCHESTRA I POMERIGGI MUSICALI DI MILANO conducted by Alberto Martini in an evening entitled “The Young Mozart”. Maestro Martini, both as Director and solo violin will perform the Concerto for violin and orchestra n. 2 in D Maj. K 211. July, 31th The closing evening of the Festival will feature Fabrizio Meloni, first solo clarinet of the Orchestra del Teatro e della Filarmonica della Scala since 1984. Alongside I VIRTUOSI ITALIANI he will perform a world premiere entitled “The first winter rain”, for clarinet and orchestra by the young Florentine composer Francesco Darmanin

Trento: Aula del Simonino Entry Ticket

Trento: Aula del Simonino Entry Ticket

The Simonino Room, previously known as the Simonino Chapel, located inside Palazzo Bortolazzi Larcher Fogazzaro on Via del Simonino in the historic center of Trento, was donated to FAI by Marina Larcher Fogazzaro in 2018 to be restored and enhanced. After the initial restoration work, which first focused on the facade of the Palazzo, revealing its 15th-century windows and restoring color and clarity to the 18th-century painted figures and inscriptions, the Foundation reorganized the interior space to create a new and original cultural enhancement project. This project consists of a "sound narrative" dedicated to the story of the young Simon of Trento. Visitors, seated on wooden benches reminiscent of a choir's pews, will listen through wireless headphones, designed to offer high-quality audio, to a 20-minute narrative. Here, where his birthplace once stood – as indicated by the inscription on the facade – there was the "Simonino Chapel" in the 18th century, and likely even earlier. This referred to Simone Lomferdorm, a boy just over two years old, found dead on March 24, 1475, in the moat of a house along the Adige River owned by a Jew. Simon became the central figure, against his will, in an unbelievable story of antisemitism, religious intolerance, and injustice, which deserves to be remembered and recounted. At that time, the city authorities, fueled by a long-standing hateful anti-Jewish prejudice, promoted the false belief in ritual murder, accusing the Jews of having killed the boy to use his blood in their Passover rites. Thus, Simon immediately became a Christian martyr and was later officially beatified, becoming the popular subject of an extensive cult with dedicated places of worship, annual processions, and a collection of sacred images spread across Italy. Meanwhile, the small Jewish community in Trento was unjustly accused, tried, condemned, persecuted, and finally expelled from Trento, where they did not return for five hundred years. Only in 1965, following a scientific review of the trial that overturned the guilty verdict against the Jews, was the cult of Simonino suppressed by a papal decree, ordering the removal of the boy's remains from the Church of SS. Peter and Paul, the cessation of all celebrations, and the closure of the chapels, including this one donated to FAI. It was not until 1992 that the Jewish community officially returned to Trento, as commemorated by a plaque placed by the city. Since 1965, this has no longer been a place of worship, but it remains a place of great cultural significance: not only for its architecture and decoration but above all because it bears witness to a dark chapter of our past. For this very reason, it must be preserved and shared, to pass down the memory of what was and must never be again.

Charming family run winery on 10 hectares, specialising in sparkling wines. Very interesting and informative small group tour of the vines, cellars and production facilities. At the end we all sat down for a tasting of six or seven varieties with cheese & charcuterie board.

Beautiful, relatively easy via ferrata! Always with a great view of Lake Garda. It's quite a long hike to get there (about 1 hour), but it's worth it. David was a great guide! Thanks for the beautiful photos and the fantastic day, David! Greetings from Berlin, Sina.
