Embark on a full-day tour to the Punta Tombo Natural Reserve from Puerto Madryn. Punta Tombo is one of the most famous and visited coastlines along the eastern coast of Argentine Patagonia. In the morning we will go to Punta Tombo Protected Natural Area, which is home to a huge colony of Magellanic penguins. After a trip of just over two hours through the vast routes and Patagonian scenery, you will arrive at this fantastic reserve. You will have no less than three hours to cover both the Penguin Colony trails and the Punta Tombo Interpretation Center with enough time. You can make use of the facilities of the place, which has a Confectionery-Restaurant, bathrooms and trails to interpret the Patagonian winds.

The Lower Valley of the Chubut River was the place that sheltered those first Welsh settlers back in 1865, giving rise to another culture within a country predominantly of Spanish descent at that time. Today, we can visit Trelew, an industrial and commercial hub in the area, home to the Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum (MEF). In the afternoon, after lunching in the area, we head to Gaiman, an old Welsh colony that preserves its traditions. Here, we'll visit historical buildings and Welsh chapels, and enjoy a typical Welsh tea in one of its renowned Tea Houses. In the afternoon, we begin the return journey to Puerto Madryn. Visit the largest colony of Magellanic penguins in South America on a shore excursion from Puerto Madryn. From September through April, Punta Tombo hosts approximately one million penguins that arrive to complete their breeding cycle and molt. Other specimens of guanacos, Patagonian hares, and other terrestrial fauna complete the scene. Enjoy a privileged view of the Atlantic Ocean coast. Start your tour with a transfer from the port to Punta Tombo. Stop at a gas station for a restroom break before continuing to the penguin colony. Arrive at Punta Tombo and visit the rookery to see the penguins. As long as the time allows, upon returning from the reserve we will give you a city tour of Puerto Madryn before dropping you off at the dock exit. Our first stop will be the city of Trelew, where we will enjoy a brief city tour exploring its streets. Next, we’ll visit the recently renovated Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum, a world-class center featuring an 8,000 m² immersive exhibition. Get ready for a captivating experience that will take you back millions of years, where you'll encounter the majestic Patagotitan mayorum, one of the largest dinosaurs to have ever walked the Earth. This exhibition is a must-see for science and history lovers! To conclude our tour, we’ll head to Gaiman, one of the most representative Welsh settlements in the region, still alive with tradition. Here, we’ll tour its main attractions, including the town square, the first house, the Welsh school, the railway tunnel, and other historic buildings. Those who wish to experience authentic Welsh tradition can enjoy a delicious Welsh tea in one of Gaiman's cozy teahouses (not included in the tour price). After this culturally enriching experience, we’ll return to Puerto Madryn, where our tour ends. This excursion combines paleontology, history, and Welsh traditions in a single day.

After pickup, leave Puerto Madryn and head South to the city of Trelew. The city name which in Welsh means "touwn of Luis", is a tribute to Lewis Jones, considered the city's founder. Enjoy a tour of the city's most notable landmarks, such as Independence Square. Make a stop at the Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum (MEF), admission is optional. This new museum houses dinosaur skeletons of different species found in the region, murals painted by set designers from the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, as well as thousands of fossil specimens. Among them is the largest found in South America. You'll also observe scientists at work cleaning, restoring, and classifying fossil specimens. From TRELEW, the tour departs for Gaiman, a former Welsh colony. Wander its streets and visit the Welsh Regional Historical Museum, located in the old train station. Visit the first house built in Gaiman in 1874, an old railway tunnel, and the old chapels that provided spiritual support to the settlers. We'll stop at a teahouse to enjoy delicious Welsh tea. We'll also enjoy a wide variety of cakes, bread, butter, and much more. We then continue to the town of Dolavon, stopping at the La Angostura ranch, where fine fruits are grown and then used to make jams, sweets, and other items. In Dolavon, we will take a city tour to learn about the history of this famous town. From there, the tour returns to the city of Puerto Madryn.
