The guided tour of the salt pans and the salt museum is something unique in the province of Trapani. This is an "obligatory" stop whether you are on holiday in the area or want to spend a day surrounded by nature, touching the sea and immersed in the history of salt. At the end of the tour it will also be possible to have an aperitif with a breathtaking view and/or have dinner at the restaurant.
The Tour is divided into 2 parts:
1) In the first part of the tour, you will have the opportunity to take a relaxing walk, discovering the infinite shades of white that characterize the salt, not to mention the blue of the sea, the gray clay, and the pink of the pools. This route follows the perimeter of the salt pan until reaching the banks of the salt pans where the water mirrors the sky. Through this tour, the Culcasi salt pans offer an experience suitable for all age groups within the WWF reserve, among protected plants and birds, so you will be able to see the salt that forms in the tanks by collecting it with your hands and following step by step the whole process that transforms seawater into the salt that everyone knows.
2) The second part of the tour focuses on the guided tour of the salt museum and the ancient mill from the 1400s, where you can really get involved in the history of salt, retracing not only the tiring work of the salt pan but above all, the history of the family that has run it for generations. The museum is located inside an ancient farmhouse and is included in the official guide of the European Union. It is a strong testimony to the union that has always linked salt and sea.
