It lost signal quite a few times BUT we were most of the time on the underground in Tokyo and it was just for a moment with it re-connecting straight away to the underground directions we were using. We only had a problem in the Asakusa area of Tokyo for some strange reason on both occasions. It was very good on navigating the whole of Tokyo to and including the whole of Kyoto, etc. To sum up: A whole lot better than we imagined it would be - reliable and when charged up easily lasted all day.
