Full description

Take a tour of the timeless Tower of London – part of British history since the 11th century. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was built in 1086 by William the Conqueror.  Discover London’s castle – a secure fortress, royal palace, and infamous prison. Spot the ravens that live on the premises and find out why they are known as the guardians of the Tower.

Stroll across Tower Green to see where many executions took place, including those of 2 of Henry VIII's wives. You will also have access to the inside of the tower. Prepare to be dazzled by the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom. These priceless symbols of the British Monarchy compose the greatest working collection of crown jewels in the world.

It is best to pre-book tickets to avoid the queues. So much to see you will need a good few hours here. We loved exploring the different towers, seeing different exhibitions and of course, the iconic Beefeaters ! The highlight was viewing The Crown Jewels. Just spectacular! Avoid the Armouries Cafe - hot food was cold, crowded & overpriced. Despite this, Overall, it was a wonderful experience that would suit all ages.

Yeoman of the Guard tour is fab! I definitely think that a visit to the Tower is more rewarding if you know about the history and the narratives of some of the characters. Just the list of people buried in the chapel of St Peter ad Vincula is an astonishing and tragic roll call of English history. You should take the time to visit the memorial to the site of the scaffold, just outside the grounds of the Tower in Trinity Square and picture how it might have looked and how those who were executed there might have felt.

I would have given this attraction five stars if I had gotten to do the entire thing. Due to limited time I could only do the Yeoman Warders tour so I didn't get to see the crown jewels -which had a very long line- or tour the facility itself, but the tour with the Yeoman Warders is worth the entrance fee alone. Yeoman Warder Scott Kelly AKA Beefy 49 simply brings the history of the tower alive.
