What people are saying about Tower of London
My girlfriend and I bought tickets for Saturday and my plane ended up landing late, the trains were delayed and tracks were closed, but they were nice enough to let us use our tickets the next day rather than let us in 45 minutes to close! We ended up spending 7 hours wandering around the next day. Dress for the weather because much of it is wandering outside on the battlements looking at architecture. We bought the multimedia guide and the tours were interesting and self-paced. We learned a whole rich history where before we’d only known little bits. We ate fish and chips in the Royal Armouries Cafe (delicious.) Plan to spend the whole day at the Tower of London!
It's described as a Fortress, a Palace, and a Prison. We got the audio tour. Excellent! There was a 1-hour+ line to see the Crown Jewels. Well worth it! The torture devices had a similar wait. So we opted out. Some interesting facts: ... Ravens are both the birds (considered good luck) and the uniquely-garbed guides (very special retired military). ... I had Millionaire Shortbread at the cafe: amazing! ... There used to be a small zoo here. So they have "chia-pet" type sculptures. ... It was established in 1066 by William the Conqueror, to say to the English people, "Hey, we're in charge now!"
We've been to the Tower of London several times now and it never fails to impress and amaze. We've never actually manages to see all of the places in there, always focusing on the crown jewels and the White Tower exhibit which was amazing this time. A lot of history in this place. The tour guides are also very entertaining. Excellent value for money.
Catherine and Georgie were amazing - they kept our groups engaged and enthralled by their vivid and lively stories about the history of the Tower. The Crown Jewels and armouries were unbelievably impressive - quite out of this world! A fabulous experience - made exceptional by the wonderful guides - highly recommended!
What a great tour. 4 hours in the wonderful grounds/Tower of London. Enjoyed every minute. The Crown Jewels were fabulous!,, only queue was to see the Jewels and only for 20 minutes. Coffee shop very reasonable - lots of park benches to sit and take a break. The tour ran very smoothly. Would highly recommend!,,
