Full description
Starting from the Pompeii archaeological site, you will pass onto the streets of this ancient city. You will walk on the volcanic stones’ pavement, and stop by the ancient fountains. You will also enter the houses, shops, restaurants, and bakeries, passing by the Temple of the Egyptian Goddess Isis and the Baths, whose decorations will leave you breathless.
When walking inside the theaters, you are welcome to sit on the cavea terraces and ask your guide to show you their eternal acoustic perfection. Last but not the least, before heading to the Forum (the center of the public and political life of the time), you will visit the astonishing House of Menander, famous all around the world for its decorations. You will then pass into the Lupanariae, which is the former red-light district.
Next on your agenda will be the Herculaneum. Together with your guide, you will walk through the city whilst listening to its story. The city itself is smaller than Pompeii, but certainly not less interesting. In fact, Herculaneum inhabitants were richer and more educated, and their power and wealth clearly show through the spectacular decorations of their houses. Among the main features, you will see the "Palestra" (gym), and the houses whose walls are decorated with spectacular frescoes such as Casa di Nettuno e Anfritrite, Casa dello Scheletro, Casa dell'Alcova, and Casa del salone nero. Your live guide will lead you in this journey across the centuries, and will be happy to reply to all of your questions and curiosities.
