Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Day 2: Tokyo City Tour Discover Tokyo on a guided tour. Visit Asakusa, Meiji Jingu Shinto Shrine, and the Tokyo Skytree. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Day 3: Free Day or Optional Mount Fuji Tour Spend the day at your leisure or join an optional tour to Mount Fuji. Visit the active volcano, Japan’s tallest peak, and a pilgrimage site for centuries. Japan’s Mt. Fuji is an active volcano about 100 kilometers southwest of Tokyo. Commonly called “Fuji-san,” it’s the country’s tallest peak, at 3,776 meters. A pilgrimage site for centuries, it’s considered one of Japan’s 3 sacred mountains, and summit hikes remain a popular activity. Its iconic profile is the subject of numerous works of art, notably Edo Period prints by Hokusai & Hiroshige. Day 4: Free Day or Optional Kyoto Tour Spend the day at your leisure or join an optional tour to Kyoto. Take the bullet train to Kyoto & explore the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, the Golden Pavilion, & the Geisha District. We will depart early in the morning & take the bullet train to Kyoto. Once there, we will explore the following spots: Arashiyama: Japan’s most famous bamboo forest - Kinkakuji: the Golden Pavilion, located in the bautiful northern mountains of Kyoto - Gion: the geisha district and the traditional alleyways full of pintoresque shops & traditional Japanese houses - Fushimi Inari-Taisha: the shrine with more than a thousand torii gates From there, we will go back by bullet train to Tokyo. The estimated hour of return is 9pm. Note the train to Kyoto is two hours and 30 minutes on the way there and back. Day 5: Free Day or Optional Hiroshima Tour Spend the day at your leisure or join an optional tour to Hiroshima. This tour will include a local guide and high speed train from Tokyo to Kyoto. Hiroshima, a modern city on Japan’s Honshu Island, was largely destroyed by an atomic bomb during World War II. Today, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park commemorates the 1945 event. In the park are the ruins of Genbaku Dome, one of the few buildings that was left standing near ground zero. Other prominent sites include Shukkei-en, a formal Japanese garden, & Hiroshima Castle, a fortress surrounded by a moat and a park. Note the train to Hiroshima is 3 hours and 30 minutes and back. Day 6: Free Day or Optional Disneyland Tour Spend the day at your leisure or join an optional tour to Disneyland. Enjoy a day of fun at the park. The tour will include transportation, an entrance ticket and local guide. Day 7: Depart Tokyo Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before transferring to the airport.
