What People Are Saying About Tivoli
The guide was did a good job to include everyone and his commentary was interesting and informative. It was great having someone with local knowledge and a genuine interest in his topic. His passion for his job was obvious. The relationship between Hadrian's Villa and Villa D'Este was explaibed and the free time in Tivoli was nice. Hadrian's Villa was a great intiduction to Roman ruins for us. It was also astonishing to be able to spot St Peter's Basillica on the horizon at such a distance--just a small speck but clearly visible. I'm certainly glad we took this tour and would recommend it highly.
As for the logistics and technicalities, the luxury bus arrived on time, was driven safely and the Walkie talkie guides were first class. As for the sights, the Villa Adriana was breathtaking, especially when it's history and construction and occupants were described and explained with such erudition and ease by our brilliant guide Giuseppe. He brought the place to life as he did also in the extraordinarily beautiful Villa d'Este, both the palace and the sublime gardens. Guiseppe also helped us find a place for lunch which was first class. An excellent day thanks to the organisers and the great guide.
The entire day was fabulous! The meeting location was clear, the headsets worked well and Larissa Perris had an amazingly in-depth and historically grounded knowledge that had the entire group riveted to her every word. Would highly recommend all visitors to Rome take this tour and understand Hadrian's influence on Rome and see why the fountains at Villa d'este make it one of the wonders of the world.
All went well and times met as we were told. We were given lots of exciting details by our guide. She took really good care of us. All was more than ok.
Guiseppe brought the history of Adrian's villa alive and he showed us what a clever architect Hadrian was. We also loved the Villa D'este and Guiseppe explained how cleverly the fountains were designed and how the music organ worked. Guiseppe asked us if we were enjoying ourselves and was pztient about answering our questions. I will recommend this trip to friends.
