This day trip was very nice just outside of Rome. Both sites were very interesting and beautiful in their own ways. We had rain in the afternoon so didn’t explore the gardens at villa d’Este as much as we would have liked but it was still a great trip.

I’m not a fan of group tours, but I signed up for this one mostly for the transportation. I found the tour guide friendly and informative, and she didn’t talk too much either, which is good for me since I have a hard time with listening to a lot of information. She gave the highlights and key points, and we had opportunities to wander, which I enjoy. It wasn’t too crowded, which was also great. I signed up for the lunch, which was lovely. The downside of tours is of course feeling a little rushed, or skipping things you might otherwise spend more time exploring. This tour didn’t feel too rushed, though.
