Then, a short walk in the Union Square and afterwards to see the Synagogue. Back to Liberty Square and finally in the Victory Square for the revolution. In case you didn’t know, you’ll get used to hearing about different cultures that have come through Timișoara and the common languages spoken here in the past 700 years.

Another stop on this tour will be the only Stolpperstein, or “stumbling stone” in Romania. These kind of stones are small monuments made of iron or copper which are engraved with the name and life dates of Holocaust victims. Elisabetin - quiet and refined residential neighborhood with buildings decorated in Art Nouveau - Secession style, we will walk through it starting from Maria square; here the Romanian Revolution from 1989 began, near the protestant church. We'll hear some interesting stories about the Romanian Revolution, started not far from here, about the neighborhood life at the end of XIXth century. Then we'll admire the interesting buildings, in Plevnei square, decorated in Art Nouveau style, with the statue of Gherghe Doja in the middle of this space. Then we'll follow the main artery, Gheorghe Doja street with some interesting buildings located there. We'll arrive in the parc Carmen Sylva, where a new grecocatholic church was built and the statue of Laszlo Szekely, the chief architect, the creator of the modern Timisoara could be admired. We'll end our tour by admiring interesting buildings from Mihai Viteazu boulevard, Faculty of Mechanics, then in Balcescu square, the wonderful catholic church and the building of the monastery located there. We will also admire representative buildings on Mihai Viteazu Street and partially on Tudor Vladimirescu Street.

An excellent tour! The guide, a special man, with extremely extensive and detailed knowledge. He was very understanding when I forgot the start time of the tour. Unfortunately, even 3 hours are not enough for the multitude of objectives in this beautiful city. We thank the guide for the wonderful time spent together!

I was on this tour on Sept 27. The guide was Roberta. The tour was was excellent. Roberta suggested a great restaurant (some of the best food I had in Romania. My visit coincided with the annual Maygar Napok (Hungarian Fest) also highly recommended. Timisoara is definitely worth a visit!
