On New Years Day it was very quiet so they allowed me to board the cog train early. They needed a print out at the information desk and they asked to see my passport. This is more than the Christ the Redeemer statue, it's also an amazing view of Rio from the top. I thought the view was better from here than from the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. If I had purchased my ticket directly on the day from the ticket office I would have saved a tiny amount of money but would have had card fees etc. It was therefore better value to buy this in my home currency online from GetYourGuide.

Walked straight through to the ticket booth, showed the email and my ID (not passport), and got wristbands to avoid the lineup for the next train, which was the one we were assigned though it seemed you could go any time during your window. Were the first to board the train up, super easy. The way down was first come first serve, so the benefits of purchasing in advance end once you board the upward train, but well worth it to avoid lines, hassle, and people trying to sell you tickets just outside the barrier.

There isn’t much to expect here, it’s exactly as it says. you get to the meeting point and you’ll find people waiting for you, the van takes you all the way up to Christ the Redeemer, entry ticket is included. They give you enough time to enjoy the views, take some pictures and do a little shopping. The best part is that they have many vans and you can choose anyone to return with (in case you want to return early or stay a bit late).

Nothing wrong with this service here, everything went as expected. It's just that Christ the Redeemer is a bit hyped. The views are stunning and the place really connects to religious people, but in reality, you'll find yourself in the middle of a picture-taking crowd. It's The Walking Dead with cameras.

I highly recommend to go and visit it. The price you pay for this tickets is nothing comparing with the value you get when you are there. The views over Rio are breathtaking and it is an amazing experience to be there.
