The food and the concert were outstanding and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We had a voucher for the event which was to be exchanged for tickets before the meal/concert started. Luckily, we went to exchange ours in the morning & this was an absolute nightmare. Nobody knew where we were supposed to get our tickets from, we were mis-directed 4 times by members of staff who were rude & unhelpful. It took us well over an hour to get it sorted & we literally walked miles round the venue. We noticed a man try to get into the concert with his voucher & he was turned away. The whole system is completely ridiculous, there must be a better way. Next time I would buy tickets directly. So meal & concert rated as 5 star. Ticket system gets nil points!
Absolutely beautiful experience. The Palace was magnificent. Shame we couldn’t take photos inside. We took the Grand Tour and the culture and history on show is awesome. We then had dinner which was only ok. But the highlight of the night was the concert. It was incredible. The concert included opera singers, dancers and musicians. It was wonderful and would highly recommend it. The only criticism was that we had front row seats and at intermission we had to wait a long time for our complimentary champagne because hundreds of others seated at the rear of the concert room were served first and yet we paid considerably more for our tickets.
It is a great concert. But you need to collect your tickets from the Orangerie which is a bit far from the restaurant, then go for dinner, then go back to the Orangerie. Allow plenty of time, do not get there late. Also, there is no seats, so you need to be there earlier to choose the first row of your category. The room is long and you won’t hear/see much if you are seating right at the back.
Great value for an unforgettable night! Special thanks to the restaurant management for accommodating my vegetarian request - the spinach torte was fantastic! Loved the performances and how interactive/varied they were. Was not expecting dancers and singers! The venue is beautiful - keep in mind you will not actually be inside the palace, rather in a performing arts center just to the left.
Whole evening ran like clockwork. Very nice meal with excellent service followed by a lovely concert. Very windy evening & a bit of a walk between the restaurant & concert theatre so we did need proper outerwear, so a word of warning to others - you may need a brolly!
