If you are a fan of Jane Austen you will love going to this small museum which used to be her house. Even if you aren’t a fan, it’s small, well run and entertaining. You get an amusing run down of the family history from an actress dressed as a lady from Jane’s time and there is a gentlemen dressed of the time who greets you at the door. It’s historically interesting and also a joy to see some props from tv and films which have been made of her books. It doesn’t take long, an hour at most which is just right. I would visit as part of the site seeing city tour on the toot toot open top bus. You could then hop back on and visit the crescent and other tourist attractions.

It was wonderful. I didn’t grow up in England, but I have loved English literature since childhood, and Jane Austen was my gateway into this world. I found it fascinating to learn so much new information and immerse myself in the time when Jane Austen lived. The museum has a wonderful atmosphere, with its design and staff perfectly capturing the spirit of the era. I highly recommend it!
