Taste authentic Tenerife wines and cheese at a food and wine tasting at the Espacio Cultural of the Bodegas Monje in the Canary Islands. Sample 3 goat's cheese and wines, including young reds that reflect the peculiarities of Tenerife’s volcanic soil.
What to Expect
Sample some of the finest wines and cheeses of the Canary Island of Tenerife during a 75-minute wine and cheese tasting, held in the Espacio Cultural of the Bodegas Monje.
Guided tours of the winery are offered 4 times daily; at 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, and 17:00. Whichever time you pick, you will taste 3 wines paired with 3 cheeses. Sample a glass of Drago Blanco, a young, dry white with a fruity bouquet. Move on to a traditional Monje, a typical local red wine that reflects the peculiarities of the Canaries' volcanic soil.
Your final wine will be a Listán Negro, a red wine that is aged for 6 months in oak casks, and boasts a noble, elegant, medium-bodied character. Each wine will be accompanied by a fresh, semi-cured, or cured goat’s cheese.
Before the tasting, take a guided tour of the winery to see the different phases of production. Your guide will explain the winemaking process at the bodega, which combines traditional vineyards with modern production facilities.
