    Depart the south of Tenerife and travel to the resort city of Puerto de la Cruz on the northern half of the island, where tourism is said to have first begun in the Canary Islands. Initially associated with the elite of Europe, who came for its mild climate and healing properties, Puerto de la Cruz and its surrounding area is also noted for its stunning flora.  Despite being the smallest municipality of the archipelago, its population density makes Puerto de la Cruz the second most populated area of the islands. Home to a wide variety of attractions, including the large sea-water bathing pool of Lagos Martiánez designed by the Canarian designer César Manrique, the heart of the city can be found at Plaza del Charco. Visit the extraordinary Botanical Gardens, or travel down Paseo de San Telmo to see the little hermitage. Look at the orchids and dragon trees of Sitio Litre, where the private mansion dates from the 18th century and has been visited by Agatha Christie and the naturist, Alexander von Humboldt among others. See the black sand beach of Playa Jardín and much more.

    Enjoyable day in Puerto de la Cruz. Beautiful town, lots of places to wander and explore. The trip itself is just a bus to get there. It goes to Loro Park which is a zoo, most of the folk on the bus were booked on a trip there. Puerto de la Cruz is a fair distance from the resort towns. Its a good way to see another part of the island for a day.

    it's a great day out to see another part of the island the coach trip is about 2 hours and very scenic too Puerto de la Cruz is a lovely place with a mixture of beaches and amazing front pools, lots of great restaurants around the one we loved was Compostelana Club Café which was in the center square such fantastic home made chips and a wonderful steak banquet

    We had a great day in Puerto de la Cruz, so I would recommend visiting this area if you are staying in the South of the island. We were dropped off close to the centre at 11:00 and were picked up at 16:30 from the same point. The journey from Costa Adeje was longer than we expected (2.5 hours each way!) so take this into consideration when choosing whether to use a shuttle service.
