  • Ascend the highest peak in Spain by cable car
  • Prepare to be astounded by the show of Teide’s shadow cast onto the sea
  • Marvel at the magnificent sunset from the Pico Viejo viewpoint while spotting the islands of La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro on the horizon
Full description
Visit the largest national park in the Canary Islands and experience a volcanic landscape of unrivaled beauty. Daybreak and sunset are particularly spectacular times in the park and when night falls it becomes one of the best places on the planet to stargaze. The changing seasons offer indescribable spectacles, with explosions of color from Teide white broom or Teide bugloss in springtime and the snows that cover the volcano in winter. Board the cable car for the 8-minute trip to the highest peak in Spain. Once you arrive at the upper station (3,555 meters), you’ll have a view of Teide's shadow, reaching Gran Canaria, as you toast the views with a glass of sparkling wine. After a short, 15-minute walk you’ll stop to enjoy the natural spectacle of the sunset behind the Pico Viejo crater and La Gomera, El Hierro, and La Palma.

It is imperative to have warm clothes and sturdy shoes with you! At the valley station there is the possibility to change. Once at the top, the view compensates for the cold. The sunset is breathtaking and there is enough space so that there is no crush for the best view. The guide is friendly and tells a lot of interesting things.

An unforgettable experience

I recommend it 100%. A guided tour with few people and at sunset time. What more could you want? Very friendly guides take you to the old peak viewpoint and tell you about the volcano's curiosities. You have to go warm, up there and the sun hides the cold is remarkable but watching the sunset from the viewpoint is a spectacle! To put a but, we arrived a little earlier than expected with the idea of having something in the funicular cafeteria but you have to keep in mind that it closes everything at 18:00.

Very nice experience, but the park also has a lot to offer during the day.

Well, you have to take care of the romantic mood yourself when 3 fully occupied cable car cabins bring the multilingual audience to the mountain station. With good visibility, however, it is a great view when the shadow of the Teide wanders over the Canada and the strait and finally even covers Gran Canaria halfway up. But then it is time to leave for a short walk in order to watch the fantastic sunset over La Palma in time. Lined up along the way to the Pico Viejo, everyone has a place to marvel, enjoy and of course take pictures. The reference to warm clothing should be taken seriously. Once the sun is gone, the wind up here will make it very cool.
