This tour to Masada & the Dead Sea was really amazing!! My first full day in Israel so was so great to have the drive from Tel Aviv, through Jerusalem & out to the Dead Sea. Our tour guide, Itamar, was our driver as well & he pointed out lots of landmarks & notable points of reference on the way, like the cave where the Dead Sea Scrolls where found, when we were leaving Judah & heading into Benjamin & so much more. Israel is beautiful!! Loved getting to see & learn more about King Herod's palace up at Masada (the cable car ride up was great & the view from the top is amazing)!! Itamar brought us to a really great place for lunch (with one of the best falafel I've ever had!!) & then we went to float in the Dead Sea!! Really incredible experience & the view accross of Jordan was just great!! Am so c very happy my trip could start of with this tour!! It was truly wonderful!! Really well planned & Itamar is such a terrific guide!! Highly recommend!!

Pick up was super on time, and very efficient as many busses pick up people from different places in the city and drive to a central location to assign people to their actual busses and guides without going stop by stop and picking up other people along the way. Our guide Omri was excellent, we loved his detailed and fun explanations along the ride as well as at Masada and the Dead Sea. He was super knowledgeable and connected so well with all people in the group. We even stopped for photos at two spots going to Masada and going back to Tel Aviv. Even though our Masada trip was slightly delayed due to another tourist at the Masada cable cars having to be brought out after having a heart attack, we got the full time at the Dead Sea which was very enjoyable and not rushed at all. Even had time to ride a camel :) Highly recommend the trip, saw, learnt and experienced a lot. Thank you Omri! :)

Embark on a full-day guided tour from Tel Aviv to the Judean Hills and the shores of the Dead Sea by bus. Visit the ancient palace of Masada, ride a cable car, and admire the Qumran caves on your drive back. Perched on a high plateau, the ancient fortified palace of Masada became a refuge for Zealots who took a stand against the Romans, until the mass suicide of the zealots in 73 AD. The ruins sit precariously on a plateau some 1,300 feet above sea level and measure 2,000-foot long by 1,000-foot wide. They boast extraordinary views of the Dead Sea and the Judean Desert. It is an exhausting climb, but we will ascend by cable car to make life easier. Explore the fortress built by King Herod in around 37 BC. Visit the remains of the palaces and see mosaic floors, Roman baths, and other findings. Masada was also home to the oldest synagogue in Israel, but one of the most remarkable features is the 12 water cisterns, each with a capacity of up to 140,000 cubic feet. Following the tour of Masada, you will drive to the Dead Sea Mineral Beach located in the Jordan Rift Valley, between Jordan and the West Bank. It is the lowest place on earth and its high density of salt makes for a unique experience as you float on the beautiful aquamarine surface. Take a mud bath and benefit from the therapeutic qualities of the natural Dead Sea mud. You will then drive back to Tel Aviv, with an on-route view of the Qumran cave, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.

What a great day! We saw and learned a lot. The guide spoke English well, so even with his accent, he was easy to understand. We were there in June, a very hot time of year to be in Israel. Though I'm not sure of the actual temperature while we were at Masada, we learned later that it "felt like" 130 degrees. Because our whole group was willing, our guide took us down many flights of stairs to see some sites many visitors don't see, then we had to hike back up again. The hike was well worth it! Going to the Dead Sea was a plus. It was super hot. So hot, in fact, that my husband and I burned the bottoms of our feet on the short walk from our chairs on the beach (hard, dry black mud, that is) to the water which was only about 20 feet! Be careful getting into the water, it's very slippery. In general, I recommend this trip for folks in good physical health and those who are able to walk easily.
