Full description

Explore the iconic archaeological site of Petra on a full-day guided trip from Tel Aviv. Pass through the scenic mountains and see the 7 New Wonders of the World, the desert landscape of Wadi Ram, and more with an optional horseback ride.

Arrive at Ben Guiron Airport in Tel Aviv for your flight to Roman Airport in Eilat, where your driver will pick you up. From there, ride to the Arava border and go through border control and customs at 8:45 AM. On the Jordanian side of the border, transfer to an air-conditioned car/van/bus and head towards Petra. Enjoy your journey on a vast and comfortable highway. After traveling along a beautiful scenic route on the mountainside, arrive at Petra’s historical site, and see why it has been named one of the 7 New Wonders of the World. Begin your guided tour of the site at the entrance.

Included in your package is an optional horseback ride for the first 200 meters of the route. (Tipping the carrier is required, between $2-5 at your discretion.) Enjoy lunch at an authentic local restaurant (own expense). Then, leave Petra, stop at a few observation points, and enjoy the beautiful desert landscape of Wadi Ram on the way back to the border.

Be dropped off at the Eilat Central Bus Station with plenty of time to catch the shuttle to the Ramon Airport for your flight back to Ben Guiron in Tel Aviv.

Trip was taken in Nov 2022. There were a lot of moving parts to this trip from airlines, transfers, border crossings, buses, etc and the logistics were well planned and everything worked; completely turnkey. Other tour companies didn’t always offer full service. Some didn’t include border crossing assistance, transfers, airport pick up etc. At GYG everything was taken care of. Their pre trip communication was good as well. If you only have one day to do this then this is the best option I found. It’s a long day though, but 10x better than riding on a bus both ways. Some advice, eat a big breakfast before you go as the lunch they offer is late in the day. The people in Jordan were very nice and never once did we feel unsafe. The guide was very good. We are very glad we went. Overall a great trip. Petra is nothing short of amazing.

The trip overall was really good. Started really early in the morning from Tel Aviv (got up at 3.30am), got picked up at eilat and driven to the border. Border control took some time, however the control went rather smoothly. We only had about 1 hour and 20 mins in Petra and wish we could have had some more time (for instance skipping the souvenir shop stop for approx 30 mins would have helped). As border closed at 3.30 we had a lot of hours at the airport (flight to Tel Aviv at 10pm), however our driver dropped us off in eilat city which was greatly appreciated - not part of our itinerary but ended up being really great (thumbs up to our driver for suggesting this!). Would absolutely recommend this trip, but would try and avoid any detours or stops on the way to Petra to maximize the time there

Due to the short opening hours of the border crossing, the time in Jordan and Petra was limited. But thanks to the excellent job done by the driver, the tour guide and the other people involved I got the most out of the time that was available and had a great experience.
