Ben is an incredible guide—knowledgeable and humorous! If you’re lucky enough to have him lead your tour, you’re in for a road trip filled with laughter and fascinating insights. We were especially thankful for the beautiful weather at Milford Sound, which was the icing on the cake. In my view, the premium we paid was absolutely worth it for the convenience: it covered the cruise ticket, guided walk, packed lunch, and most importantly, a completely hassle-free experience. We had initially considered driving ourselves but decided against it to avoid the hassle of managing a rental car and navigating unfamiliar mountain roads. In hindsight, we’re so glad we chose this guided tour. If you’re planning a visit to Milford Sound, I highly recommend departing from Te Anau rather than Queenstown. The drive from Te Anau takes around 2 hours, while it’s roughly 4 hours one way from Queenstown. Te Anau itself is a quaint little town that’s worth staying for one night at least!

From Te Anau, travel along the spectacular Milford Road with experienced nature guides who love to share their stories, knowledge, and passion for the area. Upon reaching Milford Sound, join a nature cruise to the Tasman Sea. As you cruise the fiord, there is plenty of time to view the waterfalls, rainforests, mountains, and marine wildlife.

After the cruise, set off on a series of walks and scenic stops in a range of different environments within the National Park. Enjoy access to Hollyford Valley, Lake Gunn, and the Marian Gantry. Step into the ancient native forest and witness this World Heritage area at its best.
