What people are saying about Te Anau Glowworm Caves

Overall rating

4.7
(291 reviews)

The glowworm experience was an approximate 30 minute beautiful cruise to the glowworm caves. Upon arriving, the staff explained glowworm facts and primed us for our glowworm experience. By no time our group was in the small passenger boat in complete darkness looking at glowworms. I have no comparison on different times on the year glowworms happen to be alive in the caves. However, during our glowworm experience they're plenty to make the experience more than worth it. Regardless of the glowworm cave experience being in the morning, no impact on the ability to see the glowworms. I believe the morning was an optimal choice for us because we had the opportunity to see the beauty of Lake Te Anau. Overall, I highly recommend the glowworm caves to people in search of a unique experience that is fairly priced and does not land you in a tour where you feel like time could have been more efficient. The glowworm caves have been one of the best New Zealand experiences thus far.

We joined this tour on Jul 16 and it was fantastic! We liked every bit of it including cruise, walk through the cave on the bridge over gushing stream, glowworm viewing from the boat in the pitch-black darkness, team's presentation of video on glow worm's life. It is very well organized - RealNZ team did amazing job. The view of the glowworms' lights was like fantasy, it was truly amazing. I highly recommend this tour.

The activity exceeded expectations - we loved all the “extras” that came with the glow worms, such as the cave tour, boat ride and little details like the tea and coffee in the cute cabin.

Enlightening. All staff were welcoming and definitely contributed toward an excellent experience. Will highly recommend. Chris

It was a really unique and epic experience, highly recommend it!
