Full description
Even if you only have a short time in Tbilisi, you have to spend at least a half-day exploring the Old Town. The architecture in the city’s historic district is a mixture of Georgian, Byzantine, Oriental, and Neo-Classical European styles. Among the sites you will visit are the Orthodox Anchiskhati Basilica, the city’s oldest church. You will also see the 13th-century churches of Sioni and Metekhi, the magnificent Narikala Fortress, perched on a hill with superb views of the city below, and the classic Freedom Square. You will then continue to one of Tbilisi’s newest attractions, the Bridge of Peace, which opened in 2010 over the River Mtkvari (also known as the Kura River). Tbilisi’s compact size means you can easily explore the nearby Synagogue, Armenian Church and Mosque, in addition to the Georgian Orthodox churches so fundamental to Georgian culture. This peaceful co-existence of the various religions helps emphasize modern Georgian tolerance.

Highly recommended. A great introduction to Tbilisi and to Georgia. Our guide, Khatuna, was amazing. Thanks to her excellent knowledge of Georgian history, culture, great sense of humour, we were able to enjoy this tour and discover both the known and lesser known parts of and things about Tbilisi. Many thanks to the team for this amazing experience.

I loved taking the private tour so I could personalize what I wanted to see. Adding the pick up also let me not fret about meet up point. Tour was informative and interesting and hit all the highlights I wanted. After the tour I got a great restaurant recommendation, which was yummy food with the exact easy atmosphere I wanted. I didn’t get to try the other restaurant recommendations given throughout the tour as we passed places but I’m sure they were equally good recommendations.

Alexei led four colleagues of mine and me on a walk through the streets and of Tbilisi. His tour was education at its best - seeing, hearing and experiencing a small portion of Tbilisi’s storied history. All of us thoroughly enjoyed Alexei and found him also sensitive to our needs and adapting the tour to meet those. At the end of the tour he helped us find a restaurant that had Georgian traditional singing with some dancing - and that was a treat.
